Unfortunately there were not enough people participating to make the event ec= onomically viable as a community event. It would have been great to see the f= ew people who have signed up, so I hope we will find some alternative way to = do so. I= will try to narrow this down with the relevant people hopefully by the end o= f the week. >=20 > I have also done more research into accommodation and other organisational = things and realised that booking something as early as possible it the best s= trategy for us. Hotels have very generous cancellation policies so that we wo= n=E2=80=99t lose any money in case we are unable to proceed with the entire e= vent. That=E2=80=99s why I am going to move everything forward as quickly as = possible so that we don=E2=80=99t pay any excess for short notice planning. >=20 > To organise all the logistics, I have set up a new mailing list and sent ou= t invitations to all people who took part in the poll. Please look out for th= at and subscribe to the list as soon as possible. I will use that to communic= ate anything that does not need to be done in public like logistics and so on= . For all the rest, let=E2=80=99s keep the conversation going on here. >=20 > All the best, > -Michael >=20 >> On 4 Jan 2022, at 22:04, Michael Tremer wrot= e: >>=20 >> Hello everybody, >>=20 >> I would like to invite everyone to join as at this years' IPFire Community= Summit 2022. >>=20 >> As you might expect, the Corona virus pandemic is not making things easy f= or us. However, we have decided to at least try since things probably won=E2= =80=99t improve too much soon. >>=20 >> So here is my proposed itinerary: >>=20 >> https://wiki.ipfire.org/ids/2022 >>=20 >> As we get closer to the event, we will add more and more details to the sc= hedule. >>=20 >> In general, I just wanted to have a structure that allows us to be product= ive and have a good time at working on things together and having lots of con= versations. Three days should be a good balance between not stealing too much= of everyone=E2=80=99s time and still have plenty of time to work on bigger t= hings. >>=20 >> The plan is to organise a nice event space where we can spread out and do = our thing. >>=20 >> As mentioned before, nothing is booked yet since we do not know what the s= ituation will be in April/May. We will work on the basis of current governmen= t guidelines and on the assumption that they won=E2=80=99t change before the = time of our event and/or plan with a little bit of contingency space. I belie= ve this is the best we can do because anything better than that would require= us having a crystal ball. That means that - unless guidelines change - we wi= ll only be able to admit people to the event who have either been vaccinated = or have proof of recovery from corona virus. A negative test is currently not= enough according to the rules of Berlin. Hopefully this shouldn=E2=80=99t be= a big problem for us at all. >>=20 >> For everyone who wants to attend, please head over to the page linked abov= e and add a row to the poll with your name and let us know when you are avail= able. Please be generous and try to be as accommodating as possible (otherwis= e we will end up with at least one person being always unavailable). This is = not binding yet, but we would like to get a close number of how many people w= ill actually join in order to plan the event at a right size. >>=20 >> Please also start thinking about what you can contribute to the event. May= be a little talk about something that the others need to be aware of? >>=20 >> I am very excited to write you this email because we haven=E2=80=99t seen = each other in such a long time - some of you, I have never seen in person. It= will be great to finally be back in the same room with everyone of you. >>=20 >> All the best, >> -Michael >=20 --===============3084908450828267997==--
