Good morning boys and girls,
I would like to share a couple of news around people.ipfire.org which I have improved and where I have added a couple of features:
Mainly I tried to improve the sign-up process and hope that this works now and is ready for the big launch now. Please let me know if you find anything else here that does not work.
Since we now have one massive user database for everything, we should make best use of this data. The most simple thing is groups. Those allow us to give rights to people on certain platforms where we need them.
I started with creating a groups section on people.ipfire.org where those groups can be seen and added a moderators group (https://people.ipfire.org/groups/moderators). People in this group will receive emails to moderators(a)ipfire.org which are being sent whenever someone registers a new account. This a manual measure of spam control for now. Secondly they are automatically given moderator rights on Discourse. I suppose it is clear what this is for.
Does this work for you?
Best,
-Michael
