Hello,
Many people are using servers for ipfire and this little tool would be a
nice add on for people to deploy on their machines instead of maintaining
an out of band system and a separate machine to manage the cooling fans.
I also imagine other possibilities with this program that can be used in
conjunction with current monitoring and logging of temperature that is
already deployed in IPfire to alter fan speeds based on temperature
changes.
Looking through the posts, I do see that someone in 2020 posted a compiled
version (https://community.ipfire.org/t/ipmitool-for-testing/9736) but
nothing else has been mentioned after except another request in 2023 by
another user https://community.ipfire.org/t/feature-request-ipmitool/4002.
