The location database has not updated since Feb 24.
Is that to be expected?

This has happened previously and seems to be resolved after the next
weekly update.

There seems to be a problem though when the update fails and /usr/local/
bin/update-location-database hangs causing a 20 to 30% increase in cpu
usage until it times out after about 3 minutes.

I thought perhaps there could be an issue since the location-database
git repository stopped getting a daily update after Feb 24
See:  https://git.ipfire.org/?p=location/location-database.git

The lack of updates to the database is coincides with my last update

[root(a)ipfire-dev2 ~]# location version

Hopefully someone is looking at reason why the database isn't updating.

The other problem of the high cpu usage also needs to be resolved.

Hello *,

thanks for flagging this.

This is not an issue induced by Core Update 173, but on the server side, where
the location database is generated. I'm at it and will keep you updated.

Thanks, and best regards,
Peter Müller

Hello Rob,

always. Thanks again for poking. :-)

I'll keep an eye on the situation, but the daily generation of location
databases now seems to work fine.

Thanks, and best regards,
Peter Müller

Any thoughts on the hourly high CPU usage when the database fails to
update when the server is down ?

Thanks again

Rob
