For the recently added wiki section:
https://wiki.ipfire.org/hardware/requirements#formerly-supported-architectures

There is some confusion on my part (I thought i586 was "bad" and i686 was "OK" - old but OK).  Can more details be added?

I am GUESSING this because i586 and i686 are 32-bit.  And 32-bit was dropped.  Is this correct?

Concerning ARM:
Should a line be added about 32-bit ARM?

Hello,

good remark in the wiki. But in the actual situation, it brings up another question. Not only i?86 systems are hard to get, this is true for many x64 systems also. Not everybody has a spare system laying around.
Could we extend support of those old systems by 1-3 months?
In terms of security it is better to use an old HW than an outdated SW.

Bernhard

Hello,
I have merged the page into the “System Requirements” section because I felt like it fits there best.
Where we say what we support, we should also say what we do not support.

Hello,

Indeed. Good catch.

I think this would be fine without the link. We will send an announcement which people hopefully won’t miss.

@Jonatan: Are you going to resubmit this patch?

Best,
