Please check the Logfile as suggested by the message and post the last lines to see what is missing here
Did you see the WIKI pages for building IPFire on Ubuntu? You have to install several packages and need to relink /bin/dash

I had it use the compiled toolchain...

I tried setarch i686 first and ran it... no change. Am I missing an obvious step?
