Yes i think so but the second one is based on a experienced work out from 5p9 may this could help also to avoid a couple of hours to let the users find this one by their own.
You used images in JPEG format.
Yes i use this format all the time, .png looks more worse if i convert them from .tiff
Why do not mount it directly to /var/log? The symlink may cause some
trouble.
I think this was the clou about this wiki to mount /var/log on a different place then on the usual one.
