G'day Sig-Arm list,
I have just tried the latest release
(ipfire-2.15.1gb-ext4.armv5tel-full-core81.img) on my Raspberry Pi B+
(B-Plus). First boot and partition re-size was fine, reboot to
the "Select Keyboard" screen looked good but there is no keyboard
response - actually no USB device response at all! A 'Pi without USB
support has very limited use.

Is there an easy way to get the correct USB driver for this model?
The Debian (Raspbian) people have this fixed, can the driver from
Raspbian be used on IPFire?

Thanks in anticipation,
Glen

Hey Glen,

there is a thread on the forums about the same topic:

http://forum.ipfire.org/index.php?topic=11153.0

Arne explained that he doesn't have the hardware on hand right know and
suggested that you try to use the latest firmware.

I personally don't have very much interest in the whole Raspberry Pi
topic because I think that the resources of that device are just not
sufficient to run IPFire decently.

So, I guess you just try it on your own. It's really easy. Feel free to
get back to us when you updated the RPi firmware and have issues with
booting the IPFire system.

Best,
-Michael

Ack but we have not the resources to change this without help of the RPi
foundation.
There are no Firmware and Patches for kernel-3.10.x released yet and i
think they will
never released.

Raspbian simply use the kernel-3.12.x and firmware suplied from the RPi
foundation.

No. It's a wrong kernel version without and it lacks of some needed
features like IMQ, Layer7 and grsecurity.

Thanks for the reply. Since I do not have the skills or resources to
setup my own cross-compiler, I will just have to wait. Seems a pity as
the improved hardware in the model B-plus should make it a good
candidate for a firewall/router.

Cheers,
Glen

You don't need a cross-compiler or some other build tools to do this.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation does not publish the source code of this
firmware. You just need to copy the start_elf* files onto your /boot
filesystem and that should be it. You can download the files from
github:

https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware

I am sure there is some documentation about this somewhere on the
Internet. It's basically just copying the right files to the right
locations.
