I ran into a problem with a client running an IPFire firewall, where they had employees using teamviewer.com to access their workstations after hours, effectively bypassing the security of the router.
I came up with a solution. Possibly not the best one as it requires building a separate name server, but it at least works. I wrote a "How To" on one of my sites, but if you think it would be useful, let me know where I should put it.

Feel free to tell me there are better ways to do it or there are better uses of the web site.
Rod
good morning rod, i cant check your wiki, as it is under construction.
but in my personal opinion sharing knowledge is always a good idea and even if it doesnt find a place in our wiki, we at least should insert a link to your page
cheers hilmar

Ok, I'm happy to put it out there (I think it should reside on the IPFire site, not just have a link to my site). The second question is, where do I put it. It doesn't seem to fit in any of the existing categories at http://wiki.ipfire.org/en/start.
I guess what I'm asking now is, should we have a new category "Tips and Tricks" or "How To" or something, or should this go into something completely different. Guess what I'm asking is where should we document how to do things once the firewall/router is set up and running.
I actually have a few things I think would be good on the site; one is installation and configuration of the OpenVPN GUI client for various operating systems (http://wiki.linuxservertech.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=5&id=65) and another is setting up OpenVPN on an Android and/or iPad (http://wiki.linuxservertech.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=5&id=16...) though both need to be redone before I actually moved them.
Anyway, I have no problem keeping them on my site; I just feel people should get used to looking at the IPFire site. I'd create links to the IPFire site in my site once it was done.

rod, if i understood it correctly, you have a complete instruction, a complete how-to to share in my personal opinion it may be easier for you just to use links to your site (while i'm guessing that this is a permanent one). you then have to update your page(s) only once, but if you really like to do some extra work feel free (and ask ummeegge@ipfire.org - as he is the master for the english wiki or just in this list) to share your information. guess we all would like to see some new and helpful information.
if this is a completely new theme (dont know if i really got it) ummeegge will create a new link (erik ? correct?) and a fresh page for your information (as he did that for me)
enjoy your evening hilmar aka Heisenberg

Hi Rod, you can find a section in the IPFire OpenVPN wiki which is especially for smartphones/tablets --> http://wiki.ipfire.org/en/configuration/services/openvpn, this could probably a potential place for http://wiki.linuxservertech.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=5&id=16... . In the Roadwarrior wiki section is a very small part --> http://wiki.ipfire.org/en/configuration/services/openvpn/config#client-to-ne... (under "Client Software with GUI) which links to different OpenVPN client GUI developers but i think this section lacks a lot with further infos which your wiki definitely contains (nice work). An idea can be to use the "Additional knowledge" section (above the client GUI part) and to rename it to "OpenVPN client GUI installation for IPFire " as you did, the small existing part in there (the "Windows Vista problem" description) can then be also integrated to your explanations.
As an first idea.
but if you really like to do some extra work feel free (and ask ummeegge@ipfire.org - as he is the master for the english wiki or just in this list) to share your information.
Sadly at this time it is sometimes very difficult for me to reconcile my regular work time and other things (which calls the regular life) with the coordination of the wiki so i retired from the coordination. But anyway, if the time doesn´t put me a spoke in wheel, i´ll try to help out as good as it is possible.
Greetings,
Erik
