Hi,
Thanks Jon for updating the guide for Mac OS :) Although I am running that myself, I have never used it for connecting serially.
However, the linked app costs around US$40 in the App Store which I think is extortionate. Clearly there must be an alternative that is free for such a simple task. Could we potentially recommend something that is free?

Michael - Are you known as “ms” on the IPFire wiki?
Just like Linux there is “screen” available for free and it is already installed on the Mac. I’ll give screen a try and add it to the wiki as the primary recommendation.
They only difference is that a driver may need to be added to talk with various USB devices.
I’ll look into other free apps also.

I think screen might be a good alternative then.
I just do not know how to get the “/dev/ttyUSB0” on the Mac.

That looks like a Linux reference to a serial port. Beside the USB0 port what are you trying to talk to?
On the hardware side I have:
USB port <——> SiLabs CP2102 device (my USB to Serial adapter) <——> Raspberry Pi UART (serial console)
The Raspberry Pi only uses ground, Tx & Rx
What do you have?
I just do not know how to get the “/dev/ttyUSB0” on the Mac.
