EN and DE language files

Hi all, as I explained to you previously, I regularly compare the contents of the English and German language files, of which here are my results at the end of this message : Summary to date (since the 148 IPFires testing version of July 30) : - 16 strings are missing in the English version (EN) - 42 strings are missing in the German version (DE) It would be great if someone could suggest an update to the translation files so that people contributing additional translations (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) can base themselves on a full English language file. Alignment of EN, DE and FR language files

Hi all, Since today's next core update 145, I merged the strings from the EN and DE language files and it looks good. In the English file (EN), I deleted the 6 following strings which seem obsolete (I did not find a trace concerning them in the code) : 'ansi t1.483' => 'TO BE REMOVED', 'bewan adsl pci st' => 'TO BE REMOVED', 'bewan adsl usb' => 'TO BE REMOVED', 'g.dtm' => 'TO BE REMOVED', 'g.lite' => 'TO BE REMOVED', 'upload fcdsl.o' => 'TO BE REMOVED', Apart from these strings, the only differences are added strings from the German file (DE). I also send you the French language file (FR) resulting from these modifications; thus, you have 3 languages with an identical content and number of strings. (please, for each file, remove dat.dat) I walked around in the GUI of each language and didn't notice anything that could be missing. Please, tell me what you think? Best, Stéphane

Translations of IPFire

Hi all, I compared the content of the English and German GUI language files in 144 core update : - 16 texts (there may be more) apparently used in the interface are present in the German file but have not been reported in the English file - 41 texts from the English file are missing in the German translation it seems important to have the best possible homogeneity of content between these two languages (EN: reference / DE: used by most developers of IPfire) This would also facilitate translation work for the additional languages ... If anyone is interested in this action, i agree to collaborate. Best, Stéphane

French translation of IPFire

Hi all, For some times, I like participate to the translation into French language of the IPFires GUI. Please, find hereby some questions i have for the team. · For the translation, my reference is the English language file (en.pl) and I notice several differences with the German language file (de.pl): The number and syntax of lines between languages is not the same (today, 31 additional translated texts into the English version core update 144) and i dont know exactely what must be kept / translated for the French file (fr.pl). · I also noticed some texts displayed in the GUI but not included in the translation and I was wondering if it was possible to translate them. For example : - Services > "Quality of service" - System > Credits > " This product includes GeoLite data created by MaxMind. Available from" - The "Graph" word incorrectly positioned in Status > Memory and Media graphs Please, who can i contact ? Im looking forword to get your feedback. All the best, Stéphane Pautrel

Thank you for your thoughts. I guess I will pull all translation strings from Transifex in the next few days then, sync them with Pootle and then we make the transition. We will still need to write scripts to automatically sync the translations back to the source repositories. If someone is interested in helping with that, please get in touch. Moving to Pootle?

Hello all together, long time no see. I hope you are well. Today I am getting in touch with you because I would propose moving from Transifex to Pootle. http://pootle.ipfire.org/projects/ Pootle is an Open Source software that allows people to translate software into many other languages. Just like Transifex. Unfortunately Transifex is turning more commercial and therefore I would like to not use it in the future any more and set up a test installation of Pootle. It is used by many other Open Source projects and I think ready for prime-time. Before we make the change, I would like to hear your feedback.
