Hi all,
I compared the content of the English and German GUI language files in 144 core update :
- 16 texts (there may be more) apparently used in the interface are present in the German file but have not been reported in the English file
- 41 texts from the English file are missing in the German translation
it seems important to have the best possible homogeneity of content between these two languages (EN: reference / DE: used by most developers of IPfire)
This would also facilitate translation work for the additional languages ...
If anyone is interested in this action, i agree to collaborate.
Best, Stéphane

Hi everyone I think the problem is precisely in having two reference languages in order to have a shared and always aligned job I believe that having a centralized system where it is possible to translate the texts is the best way for example for other projects I use this system
but I believe there are others too

From Michael : What are you proposing?
I propose to provide a new version of the English language file (EN) with the missing texts from the German language file : Thus, we would have 1 EN file with all the translated texts.
Then, i propose to delete the obsolete texts in order to avoid unnecessary loading of the EN file : For this action, I can start the cleaning with what I know but that will have to be continued thereafter.

Yes that makes sense. Are you sure that those strings are used though?
Then, i propose to delete the obsolete texts in order to avoid unnecessary loading of the EN file : For this action, I can start the cleaning with what I know but that will have to be continued thereafter.
Again, I am not sure if there isn’t a problem with the system that identifies the obsolete strings. Can you remove them and check if everything is still there?
Best, -Michael

I have identified several strings which are well used ; For others, I could check their usefulness before integrating them
Then, i propose to delete the obsolete texts in order to avoid unnecessary loading of the EN file : For this action, I can start the cleaning with what I know but that will have to be continued thereafter.

Yes, that's what I thought I would do. I would not delete any string that I had not checked before.
