DynDNS support for ddns project.

Hello guys, i've created a patch for the Dynamic DNS client for IPFire. (http://git.ipfire.org/?p=oddments/ddns.git;a=summary) My patch will add support for the very popular "dyndns.org" provider. However I wasn't able to test my changes, because I don't have any account there and I seems new members have to purchase to use use it. So, I need your help to test my changes and finally be able to support that provider in the next major version of IPFire. Best regards, Stefan

Samba with compile option --with-winbind

Why ist Samba as IPFire package (Pakfire) not compiled with –with-winbind so it can authenticate with Active Directory to reach a single sign on/passthrou authentication? Three outstanding github pull requests, should they be included in 2.15 ?

Hi I now have three outstanding github pull requests, and I am wondering if you want to include any of those in the 2.15 release. The release is approaching, so I understand if you do not want to include them (all) in the 2.15. This one I think is the best candidate to be part of 2.15 : https://github.com/ipfire/ipfire-2.x/pull/23 This is just finishing off the changes for using language strings, and improving the html code. This is updating the version of vnstat, and getting rid of separate package for vnstati, which has become part of vnstat. https://github.com/ipfire/ipfire-2.x/pull/24 I am not sure if the pull request is complete, since I do not know fully how the build / upgrade works. This is a new feature : https://github.com/ipfire/ipfire-2.x/pull/12 So maybe this should not be part of 2.15. But I like the new functionality, and also like the functionality to see how many blocks per interface (red/green/orange/blue). Let me know what you think, and if you want me to change some of these pull requests. Regards Alf

Problem with building 2.13/75 (gutenprint) on Debian

Hi, I just began working with IPFire 2.13, trying to get my Devel-PC working. My environment: - P4/2800, 1GB RAM (ok, I know, machine is old, but sufficient for my needs - until now) - Debian 7.4 (3.2.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.2.54-2 i686 GNU/Linux) - /bin/sh points to 'bash'. I tried to setup everything as described in Wiki and had absolutely no problems until tonight: Despite everything I tried, "./make.sh build" keeps telling me this (taken from '_build.ipfire.log'): ***SNIP*** Can't locate Foomatic/Defaults.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3/i586-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3 /usr/lib/perl5/5.12.3/i586-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.12.3 .) at /usr/sbin/foomatic-kitload line 3. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/sbin/foomatic-kitload line 3. make[5]: *** [install-kit] Error 2 make[5]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/gutenprint-5.2.5/src/foomatic' ***SNAP*** Every 'make.sh'-line says '[ DONE ]', but only 'gutenprint' won't work, no matter what I tried. Being curious, I commented line 695 ('ipfiremake gutenprint') in 'make.sh' and started 'make.sh' again. Building continued with 'apsupsd' and is still working fine. Any hints for getting 'gutenprint' compiling ok? Regards Matthias

Firewall GUI 2.15 issues

Hello, during a testing session on the past weekend, I still found a number of bugs in the new firewall scripts and GUI. Not big ones, but many small ones. In order to track the a little bit better, I created an umbrella bug #10486 (https://bugzilla.ipfire.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10486, https://bugzilla.ipfire.org/showdependencygraph.cgi?id=10486), that I use to track all of them. So please, if you have some more issues, make sure to connect them to this bug as well that we don't forget to fix one. I hope, that we will be able to fix all of the bugs there are now within this week, so that we are able to release an other beta version next weekend. -Michael

Why must the "make.sh" be run as root ?

Hi I'm trying to do a full build of ipfire, following instructions on : http://wiki.ipfire.org/en/development/build I have been able to do a full build (except for build of cdrom failing, it seems to be tar complaining that usb/bin/ntpd and other ntp files are missing), but I am wondering why I need to run the make.sh as root. I can see in the make.sh that a symlink is made for "/tools", so I guess one needs root for that. Is that the only reason ? Or is the build process putting files on my computer outside the folder where I have the source code repo from git ? Could one use the "fakeroot" command instead, if needed ? I do not like runing build commands as root, being afraid that something is installed / changed somewhere on my development machine. So it would mean that I need a separate virtual build machine for building ipfire. Regards Alf
