Introducing DDNS

Hello, this is a post to update you all about the recent developments regarding the support for the various upcoming dynamic DNS providers. Rationale Some of the major dynamic DNS providers stopped their free services or made them unusable so that people started searching for alternatives. In IPFire 2, a script called setddns.pl [1] is responsible for updating the dynamic DNS records. This script has grown over the last couple of months and if you have looked into it you will have noticed that it has become from ugly to almost un-maintainable. The decision that we don't want to take this mess with us into the next generation of IPFire was already made many years ago. DDNS A project called ddns was started which is a pure Python client that is much more flexible, cleanly rewritten and easily extensible. It is cross-platform, cross-distribution and does not need any third-party python modules. The basics already written years ago, Stefan Schantl and I worked on making this ready for IPFire 2 and added all the providers that are currently supported by setddns.pl and ez-ipupdate. Bug reports go to the usual place: https://bugzilla.ipfire.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=DDNS%20Updater There is no fixed release schedule for this, but we are pretty sure that this won't take long until DDNS arrives in IPFire 2. That means that we won't take any patches for the setddns.pl script that add support for new providers any more. Guardian 2.0 Testversion 011

Hello followers, at first I have to thanks to all of you which have joined the guardian 2.0 testing team. I've got a lot of positive feedback but also has been noticed about several tiny issues. I've uploaded an updated test version to http://people.ipfire.org/~stevee/guardian-2.0/. core 89: vpns do not show up anymore

Hi there, I have updated my ipfire box to core89. Now all the vpn connections in the Connection Status and -Control screen always show the status:disconnected even when there is a connection active. What could be the reason? How to fix? thanks robert

Hi guys I can confirm this problem. I updated from core 88 to 89 and the statistics do not work. The permission is also different in my system: -rw-r--r-- 1 root nobody 0 Apr 22 09:37 /var/run/ovpnserver.log I changed the ownership to nobody.nobody but till now I don't have any data in it. Restarting openvpn will change the ownership back to root.nobody... It seems that openvpn does still write into /var/log/ovpnserver.log in my case. I also can't see the status of a openvpn roadwarrior in the gui. They are all marked as "Getrennt" event /var/log/ovpnserver.log says that two roadwarriors are connected. Core 89 bug?

I have Core 89 installed on my router and just noticed something. When I vpn in (OpenVPN, Road Warrior), it does not show up on the vpn list; the entry on the web interface shows the user as disconnected. Looking at /var/log/ovpnserver.log shows nothing also. However, I am connected; I can ping a machine on the LAN. I rebooted the firewall just to make sure I did not do anything weird, but still no changes. I see the login in /var/log/messages, and /var/log/ovpnserver.log shows it was updated at the correct time, just no entries. new openvpn graphs in core89

Hi there. Yesterday I've updated my Testfire to the latest core89. The graphs seems to works now but they look a bit ugly. It seems that they were compressed or something like that. I'll append two pictures so you may see what I mean. One shows the new Openvpngraph and one some of the others. I used the same browser, resolution and no zoom. - Daniel

grub broken in IPFire upgrade from 85 to 87

I believe those are the correct versions. I upgraded the machine and now get a grub error 15. I have no further information except the following: It is an HVM virtual, running on an LV (should not make a difference) To troubleshoot, I use kpartx to break it apart. When I mount the /boot partition, I see grub.menu.old, then a grub/ directory. The config file in the grub/ directory has none of the configuration options I expect. I have made a copy of the image in case anyone wants me to do anything to it. Two other routers have worked just fine with this upgrade, but they are not on an LVM partition?
