Reduced AS/route visibility

It seems there has been a significant reduction in the visibility of certain routes in the IPFire dataset recently, and/or spurious routes taking place of legitimate announcements. For example, 209.38.204.47 is originated by AS14061 and announced in 209.38.192.0/19, but IPFire erroneously sees 209.38.0.0/16 and locates no corresponding AS. [PATCH] location-importer: Replace ARIN AS names source with one that offers human-readable names

This patch replaces our previous source for AS names in ARIN's realms with another file provided by ARIN that contains human-readable names for organizations ASNs have been allocated to. Please note that a TRUNCATE autnums; is necessary on machines previously running the old version of location-importer, in order to make use of this changed data source. [PATCH] location-importer: Add missing area code for AWS

It is unclear what exactly "eusc" refers to ("EU Secure Cloud", maybe?), but according to RIPE database records for IPv6 networks involved, this area code physically traces back to Germany, likely Berlin instead of Frankfurt. [PATCH v2] location-importer: Fix Spamhaus ASN-DROP parsing

The format of this list has changed, from a plain text file with a customer schema to JSON. Adjust our routines accordingly to make use of this list again. The second version of this patch incorporates Michael's feedback on the first version, and adds AS names to the autnums table in case they are not there already, which closes some gaps on rogue ASNs in the LACNIC area. "location lookup 4.231.239.118" results in "[Errno 2] No such file or directory"

Hello Michael, just something I encountered today while checking on a bunch of IP addresses: Trying to look up 4.231.239.118 results in "[Errno 2] No such file or directory", an error I didn't expect to surface at this point, and I'm not sure what to make out of it. Behavior on the system (IPFire running Core Update 177) is as follows: [root@firewall ~]# location lookup 4.231.239.118 [Errno 2] No such file or directory [root@firewall ~]# location version Mon, 14 Aug 2023 05:21:26 GMT [root@firewall ~]# location --version location 0.9.16 However, it doesn't look like the entire location database is broken: [root@firewall ~]# location lookup 8.8.8.8 8.8.8.8: Network : 8.8.8.0/24 Country : United States of America Autonomous System : AS15169 - GOOGLE Anycast : yes So far, I have only encountered this behavior in conjunction with 4.231.239.118; another IPFire machine running the same Core Update and libloc version, but having the database generated on Thu, 10 Aug 2023 05:23:53 GMT also exhibits this behavior. libloc 0.9.17 released

Hello, This is the release announcement for libloc 0.9.17. It comes with the following changes: * The importer is now parsing Geofeeds where available. This helps us to create a database with better accuracy for large ISPs or cloud providers. * The database writer is trying to compress the database harder: It will now look for any duplicate networks and merge neighbouring networks which will reduce the size of the database by about half. * The importer has been improved so that it runs more efficient SQL queries to create the database faster. * Temuri Doghonadze contributed a Georgian translation. * Hans-Christoph Steiner contributed bash-completion for the location(8) command. Segfault on d5ff39d "tree: Actually delete any deleted nodes"

Hi, I am seeing a segfault during tests (src/test-as, src/test-country and src/test-signature) for all Ubuntu LTS versions. This only occurs with the latest commit (d5ff39d) applied. Looking at the change, the node still seems to be used after dereference, but I am not fully sure of the way you have planned out the deletion, therefore I am not offering a patch/resolution. >From gdb I am seeing: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. loc_network_tree_delete_nodes (tree=0x55555555a370) at src/network.c:1045 1045 tree->root->deleted = 0; Best regards, Valters Jansons

[PATCH] debian: Include bash-completion when packaging

dh_missing for a standard `debuild` run on latest `master` commit complains about the bash-completion file created for location package. This file should be listed as for inclusion in location package accordingly, so that auto-built Debian package picks it up properly. --- Sorry about not including this in the previously provided patch. I was looking at the 0.9.16 version and the changes that were missing from that, and overlooked that more recent changes (after the tag) also had changes in the output file structure. [PATCH] debian: Housekeep location.install and changelog

In order to run `debuild` for an easy Debian package locally, the debian/*.install files must list all build results. For version 0.9.16 there is a new pre-built database.db file that belongs with `location` package, and the `man8` pages have been moved to `man1`. Additionally, the changelog is added for version 0.9.16 as to maintain the centralized reference (inside this upstream repository). The author/timestamp is based on the 0.9.16 tag metadata tracked in Git. --- This commit simply aims to have this repository buildable directly.
